Hi All! In this video I share some background about the genesis of my short film Ahma and Alan and some of the reasons why it took so long to finally get the film out. Text for the video below in English/中文。
Ahma and Alan, full film now on Omeleto!

Ahma & Alan started as a short story loosely based on my experience almost getting deported from Taiwan. After a successful festival run through a pandemic (with one in-person screening Seattle Asian American Film Festival prior to lockdowns), I’m happy to announce that the short film is now available on Youtube via Omeleto, an amazing platform that features award winning short films from around the world. The link is in my instagram bio and in the description below.
For the past two years, I felt stuck. I wasn’t sure how to release the film. I felt drained by the pandemic, by the attacks happening against Asian people in the U.S., by my own thoughts. However, if these past few years have taught me anything, it’s that stories are essential. They help us understand ourselves and others. Stories build empathy. I felt I couldn’t delay any longer.
Thank you to everyone that made this film possible through donations, equipment, locations, advice, encouragement…thank you. I’ll be releasing more photos and videos over the next few weeks related to the film, so look out for that. To watch the whole film, click the link in the bio. If you could give this film a like and share it with a loved one, that’d be greatly appreciated.
