It’s an honor to have my short film @ahmaandalan play in a home based film festival @svapfilmfest (Silicon Valley Asian Pacific FilmFest)! It will be online, running October 2nd through October 10th.
Wish I could be in the south San Francisco bay to celebrate with fellow filmmakers, family, and friends and say hella hella times. But this is hella cool too! Growing up in the Silicon Valley, filmmaking wasn’t really a viable career path (it still isn’t HAHA 😔) whereas tech/computer jobs were the way to go. I have mad respect for those fields and being surrounded by it as a teenager, it actually gave me more clarity about my passion for the arts. It’s like seeing a hot woman in a sea of male computer programmers.
Silicon Valley is also the place where my ahma and agong spent the bulk of their time in the U.S. helping raise my siblings and me. So for this film to play at a “local” yet also global festival (online baby!) it’s quite nice. If my grandparents were alive and this was an in-person festival, I imagine they would’ve enjoyed watching the film in the theatre; we would probably sneak in mantou 饅頭 to snack on (thinking of you ahma).
